This last week in my content - I have been chatting a lot about the power of your website and how many people now do not trust businesses without websites.

Sometimes websites are overlooked. In 2024 they are no longer just digital business cards — they're your most powerful sales tool. Your website is where your clients land to find out everything they need to know about your business, build trust, read reviews and understand that you offer the solution to their current problem. But having a website isn’t enough. You need a site that attracts visitors AND converts them into loyal customers. Here’s a list the must-haves that your website needs to turn visitors into clients by gaining trust and showcasing your expertise.

1. Responsive Design:

First impressions DO matter, and over 90% of people are now viewing your website on the move on their mobiles, your website needs to be cohesive on every device. A responsive design makes sure that your site looks and functions well on desktops, tablets, and smartphones. You need to create an online experience that keeps visitors engaged, no matter how they access your site. So this is your reminder that if you know your website formatting is not up to scratch right now - get that sorted!

3. Clear CTAs:

Your website’s call-to-action (CTA) buttons are the main characters that guide visitors through their journey to purchase something from you, read your blog, learn more about your services - whatever the goal of your website might be. Whether it’s “Buy Now,” “Sign Up,” or “Contact Us,” clear CTAs are essential for conversions. Do yourself a website audit, check that your CTAs are boldly displayed and encourage action at every stage of the customer journey. Bonus points is you can make your CTA's full of personality and engaging!

4. SEO Optimisation:

To convert visitors, they first need to find your webiste. SEO optimisation ensures your website ranks high on search engines like Google. Use relevant keywords throughout your content, meta descriptions, and title tags. For local businesses, targeting keywords like “branding Warrington” (one of mine) helps attract nearby customers. Wix’s SEO tools make it easy to optimise your site and boost your online visibility. (There is a FREE digital SEO checklist available in my online shop - click here to grab it!)

5. Professional Branding:

Your website should reflect your brand’s personality and values. Consistent branding, from your logo to your colour scheme, builds trust and recognition. A cohesive brand presence on your website reassures visitors they’re in the right place.

6. Social Proof:

People trust people and that doesn't necessarily mean you, it could mean the clients that have already worked with you. Showcase your testimonials, reviews, and case studies to build your businesses credibility and trust. Social proof highlights your successes and shows potential customers that others have had positive experiences when working with you. This can be a powerful motivator for new leads.

7. Easy Navigation:

Your website’s journey should be intuitive and straightforward. Visitors should be able to find what they’re looking for without any hassle, it is great to stand out from your competition, but clients shouldn't have to re-learn how use a website because you "think" yours is cool. (Just because you can use a cool function, doesn't mean you should). A strategic and well-structured menu and clear pathways to key information help keep visitors on your site longer, increasing the chances of conversion.

8. Contact Information: Be Accessible

Make it easy for visitors to get in touch with you. Put your contact information in the footer and on your contact page and consider adding a contact form more than once, chat feature is always helpful, or booking system if your services are available to book online - people do not like to ask for what they want and wait for a reply. They just want it ticked off their to do list. The more accessible you are, the more likely visitors will reach out, converting into leads and customers.

My Final Thoughts

Your website is an incredibly powerful tool for your business’s success. By adding in these must-have's, you can create a site that not only attracts visitors but converts them into real life customers.
